President Jeramae Marcellano
Aloha and Greetings from the Hawai’i Student Nurses’ Association (HISNA)! It is a great privilege to introduce myself as this year’s President and I am thrilled to serve alongside future nursing leaders. I am currently a third-year nursing student at Chaminade University of Honolulu and serves as the Public Relations Officer for the Chaminade University of Honolulu Student Nurses’ Association.
I was introduced to community service early in my younger years and in collaboration with our church ministry, I participated in medical mission programs in the disadvantaged districts of Manila, Philippines. At that age, I was only allowed to fellowship with other children and shadow the medical professionals. I recall watching my mother, a Public Health Nurse in the Philippines; dedicate her time in providing free medical assistance to various underprivileged communities. Her compassion, influence, and my experiences first hand in caring for sick family members, are among the many inspirations that ultimately reaffirmed my decision to become a nurse.
This year, I intend to continue on providing leadership, networking, and community opportunities that will provide professional growth to all pre-nursing and nursing students. It is my goal to establish and maintain relationships with different organizations and let HISNA be recognized locally, nationally, and internationally.
I love taking photographs and exploring new cities. I tend to linger on Pinterest and enjoy reading home-improvement blogs. I am excited to meet all of you and if I can be of any assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me.
